ISLA/UROP Research Design Badge

Award Description:

The ISLA/UROP Research Design Badge will be awarded to students who complete independent research and show advanced research design skills through completion of their projects and showcasing of these projects on their ePortfolios, under the auspices of the Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts/Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program. Recipients of the badge will be the students whose display of original research is evident and whose process of creative learning is clear.

The ISLA/UROP Research Design Badge will be awarded to those students who:

  • Submit a successful proposal for grant funding (if receiving particular grants)

  • Carry out independent research and complete proposed project

  • Meet performance expectations of the supervising faculty member

 

(i)  For Research & Materials; Senior Thesis; Social Justice in the Marketplace; American Dream; and Da Vinci Grants:

  • Submit to UROP office on or before the stated deadline an electronic copy of 5-6 page, double-spaced final report that: outlines the project's objectives; explains the project's results; reflects on the ways in which the project enabled awardee to acquire and synthesize information; and discusses ways in which the project could be further developed.   

  • Submit to UROP office UROP Final Report Cover Page signed by supervising academic supervisor, confirming that the awardee has demonstrated at least two out of the list of 7 "University Learning Outcomes for Undergraduates"

(ii) For Conference Presentation Awardees:

  • Submit to UROP office on or before the stated deadline a PDF of poster or paper presented

  • Submit to UROP office UROP Final Report Cover Page signed by supervising academic supervisor, confirming that the awardee has demonstrated at least two out of the list of 7 "University Learning Outcomes for Undergraduates"

 

Reviewer: The UROP office will make decisions about which students receive digital badges, but those decisions will be confirmed by the faculty member supervising the funded project.

 

Eligibility: Available to all Notre Dame undergraduate students

 

Badge Award Dates: Fall semester
